A cremation vault protects the urn, which holds the cremated remains, from the natural elements. It also protects the urn from disruption if an adjacent grave is opened at a later date, or the grave is re-opened again. Cremation vaults are made of concrete and may feature plastic linings. They may have decorative elements and metal reinforcements.
